November Wrap Up

Just another monthly wrap up post. On the books I've read (or finished reading in November. I've started some on October but only finished in November, slow reader in the house, yo!), the reviews I've posted on November, or anything worth mentioning that had happened in the month of November.

November Reads:

Never judge a book by its cover. I think this is the perfect time to use this idiom. It's not that beautiful, not that fancy either. I liked it, nevertheless (I can be pretty biased; I'm a fangirl). But but! The story beyond the cover is mind-blowing! To the point that you could forgive the unfancyness (it's not a word, I know ;P) of the cover. I wrapped the book (and the other two books in the trilogy) because they're my prrrrreciouss (read the 'precious' word like how Gollum would read it xD).

Review Buku: Harut dan Marut oleh Saad Ismail Syalabiy

I want to write reviews in Malay for Malay books I read, so here goes. I'll include the English translation at the end. Just keep reading ;)

Saya nak tulis review buku dalam Bahasa Melayu untuk buku-buku Bahasa Melayu yang saya baca. Saya akan letakkan juga terjemahan Bahasa Inggeris di akhir nanti. Teruskan membaca ;)

Tajuk: Harut dan Marut (Siri Pendidikan Al-Quran untuk Kanak-Kanak #5)
Pengarang: Saad Ismail Syalabiy
Tahun penerbitan: 1992
Penerbit: Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP)
Sumber: Sendiri. Emak saya belikan waktu zaman sekolah rendah dulu-dulu
Beli: Sejujurnya, saya tak jumpa kedai buku yang jual buku ni sekarang

Masa saya kecil-kecil dulu, saya takut sangat setiap kali tengok kulit buku ini. Sebab illustrasi tu nampak menyeramkan. Tapi sekarang, tak ada lah takut kan, kalau takut juga, tak tau lah nak kata apa ;P

Book Haul #1: Big Bad Wolf Book Sale 2012

 BBW's facebook page
Why the sale is named as Big Bad Wolf Book Sale?  I question this every year myself.

I think it was at the end of last year. Or was it early 2013? I'm not sure, I'll just go with 2012 edition. I went two times I think to this awesome book sale. It's awesome for me because the books they had for sale was very very very cheap! It's dirt cheap. RM 8 for a book? Just shut up and take my money.

Book Review: Shadows by Ilsa J. Bick

Title: Shadows (Ashes Trilogy #2)
Author: Ilsa J. Bick Goodreads Website
Published: September 2012 (It was published on my birthday! 250989, that's the not-so-secret-code for my birthday hint).
Publisher: EgmontUSA
Source: Captain Hook
Buy: Malaysia online bookstores: MPH | Times Bookstore | Bookurve | Kinokuniya
US-based bookstores: The Book Depository | Amazon

Captain Hook gave me this e-book copy of Shadows.

It's the US version of the cover. I like the UK cover more than the US version. The UK version has a creepy one-eyed girl on it. The US cover looks less creepy, in my opinion. Covers with real faces/faces that remotely look real always creep me out.

Book Review: Ashes by Ilsa J. Bick

Title: Ashes (Ashes Trilogy #1)
Author: Ilsa J. Bick Goodreads Website
Published: September 2011
Publisher: Quercus UK
Source: Bought from Popular brick-and-mortar bookstore
Buy: Malaysia online bookstores: MPH | Times Bookstore | Bookurve | Kinokuniya
US-based bookstores: The Book Depository | Amazon

(I can't really vouch for online bookstores other than MPH, because I haven't use their service. But, MPH is quite good, I've bought The Hunger Games trilogy paperback box set from them last year, and it arrived around a week after I placed the order, I think, and it's in mint condition).

That, my friend, is my crappy photographing and photoplacing blogging skill, teehee.

That cover is beautiful and creepy at the same time and that's exactly the reason I bought this book (I know, I shouldn't judge a book by its cover). Well, I'm one of those people who impulsively buy books based on the cover alone.

2013 TBR Pile Reading Challenge

So I decided to join this fun challenge which I just found out about. Hosted by Evie from Bookish. Check out her post for more details. I'm pretty late in the club as we're already at the end of 2013. But, well, I'm doing it. When I feel like doing anything, I just do it.

October Wrap Up

In which I'll talk (or type) about books that I've read in the month of October 2013. I'll be posting this in monthly basis as a recap of what I've been reading in a month.

I know it's already late November, but well, better late than never. Hehe ;P

I keep track of my reading progress on Goodreads, and I'm quite surprised at the amount of books I finished reading last month. I'm a slow reader; I normally spent about a week for a book (of 400+ pages). So, yay me!

Alrighty, on to the books:

Welcome! Selamat datang! Irasshaimase!

Assalamualakum and hello all! :)
(Assalamualaikum means 'may peace be upon you', it's just me wishing all of you a peace day).

Welcome to my book blog :)
I'm Farhana. I live in Malaysia. I love to read books and play video games. I'm not a born book lover. But, I remembered the pleasure of reading and was slowly picking up the love when I was in primary school, I think.

But, it kind of slowed down when I was introduced to video games, thanks to my brother.
