Book Haul #2: Big Bad Wolf Book Sale 2013

Okay, I went to the BBW on last Friday. Let's just move on to the loots, shall we?

Shadows (Ashes Trilogy #2) by Ilsa J. Bick. My reviews on Ashes and Shadows. I was so excited when I see this book in piles and piles of books at the sale. It was on its own (Only found a copy there). I didn't expect to see Shadows among the books there. I snatched it as fast as I could when I saw that creepy one-eyed cover girl.

The Bad Beginning (A Series of Unfortunate Events #1) by Lemony Snicket. Bought the fourth, twelfth and thirteenth book on last year's BBW. But couldn't find the first book and I'm glad I found it this year.

The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey. *squeals* I have read rave reviews about this book on the blogosphere and Goodreads. It smells just like the book I'd enjoy reading.

Survival, alien invasion, apoc-ish/dystopian-esque; these alone explain why it ended up in my haul, hehe. Oh, and it's released in this year, 2013. It's rare to find new releases in BBW.

The only thing that worries me is that, the back cover mentions a hot and mysterious guy. Hot, mysterious and guy in a sentence? Hmm... This species doesn't bode well with me and I don't buy their romance stuff, usually. Well, let's just see that it's not too Edward-ish (Twilight, people, Twilight) or that prince-dude-like (I think his name is Prince Maxwell) in The Pledge.

Crank (Crank #1) by Ellen Hopkins
Glass (Crank #2) by Ellen Hopkins
Fallout (Crank #3) by Ellen Hopkins
The Blessed by Tonya Hurley
The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien
The Woman In Black by Susan Hill

I bought 9 books this year. A lot less compared to last year's sale. I think it was because I only grabbed books that I think I'd read. Last year's sale was my first BBW, so I kind of got overexcited and grabbed anything that my hands could reach for.

My siblings' haul:

Crappy photos, I know.

Animation in Process by Andrew Selby
The Complete Guide to Digital Graphic Design by Maggie & Bob Gordon
The Sudoku Gift Box
Wordsearch (Pocket Puzzles)
Pocket Posh Hidato
Everyday Logic 200 Puzzles

Total investment: RM140. Worth it. Very. And I got a year membership for BookXcess, whee! Although it's unlikely for me to shop there frequently. That's the downside of living in rural area (not really rural; a small, remote town would properly describes where I live). Everything seems to be in far far faraway land.

Oh, and this year's theme was pirates. I regret not wearing any of the Mugiwara costumes (not that I had any of those anyway xD). One Piece FTW!

Last year's BBW.

May peace be upon you :D

    1. I wasn't expecting it either. I just found it there atop of everything else at one of the tables they had. And people just passed by it. It's a lone copy though, didn't see more of it. They (the staff) must have accidentally put it on for sale, it's a 2013 release. I've never came across newly published books at the sale before. But that's just my theory xD

  2. This is very similar to this book sale we have in the Netherlands and Belgium, called Het Boekenfestijn. They travel through both countries setting up for about four days at a time. The books are really cheap.

  3. Hi Farhana!

I landed on your blog because I was searching for reviews about the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale. I live in the Philippines and it will be our first time to experience this event. I noticed though, most of the selections are on children's books to fiction, particularly the young adult reads. My intention is to score discounted coffee table books in the field of arts, photography, fashion, style and lifestyle in general. Having such intention, would you recommend the book fair for me? Do you think I will be able to score some rare yet discounted coffee table books?

Thank you in advance and wishing you a great week ahead!
