Young kids, adventures, riddles, odd creatures, faeries, goblins, elves. If one of these words are to your liking, give this book a try.
The book told the story of 3 Grace siblings; Mallory and her twin kid brothers (Jared and Simon), who found an ancient book that contains every details of the magical creatures mentioned in the first paragraph. I haven't read book #1 and #2 in the series because they're not in my possession.
There wasn't much explanation and recaps on what happened in the earlier two books, so it took me some time to get my bearings right.
I've watched the movie years ago, before reading the book -- couldn't remember when. The movie helps a lot. In the movie, if I'm not mistaken, this book takes place after the siblings were attacked by hordes of goblins, after the goblins found out about a stone that could see all of these odd creatures.
The siblings had no idea that the old book they found is a very wanted item in faerie land. It seemed like every single creatures in the faerie land wanted the book very badly and that's apparently the reason they got attacked. And so, as the title would suggest, they went to Aunt Lucinda for further clarification and in the meantime discovered her secret as well.
It was not a very quick read, to me, because I fell asleep most of the time. It was quite boring, in my opinion. There were lots of talking and talking and talking and confusing riddles and me getting sleepy. Maybe children story is not for me anymore? Maybe.
May peace be upon you.
I totallyyyy have forgotten how the movie goes. Haha. I need to watch it again.
ReplyDeleteIt was years ago when I watched it. I only remember bits and pieces of heres and theres. My memory is a bit rusty as well xD
DeleteThe art cover of the book you've read seems to be coming from the Movie. I haven't watched the movie version yet but the original book version is definitely a good read.
ReplyDeleteI also made a review of this book at the ff. link:
